Arts and Culture Initiatives

To honor the legacy of Fred W. Fields, OCF is announcing a five-year, $32-million investment in strategies and programs that will support the arts for all Oregonians. We will be releasing RFPs for these programs in phases over the next year.

  • Education Initiatives

    OCF will allocate $10.5 million to four strategies that will ensure Oregon children come to school ready to learn and to continue on the path to academic success.

    Parenting Education

    To support parents in their role as their children’s first teachers and role models, OCF will award $5 million over five years to expand Parenting Education Hubs to all 36 Oregon counties. 

    • RFP release: Fall 2013

    Prenatal Through Third Grade Alignment

    To create stronger connections between early childhood services and the K-12 system, OCF will award $1.5 million over three years to support implementation of P-3 alignment programs.

    • RFP release: August 2013
    • Proposals due: October 22, 2013

    K-12 Student Success

    To increase student attendance and academic achievement, OCF will award $5 million over five years to community-based programs that offer best-practice out-of-school, mentoring and parent engagement programming.

    The RFP was released in May 2013, and the first round of proposals were received August, 2013.

    Fred Fields Scholarships

    To increase access to higher education and training, OCF will award more than $1 million in scholarships to students pursuing technical certificates or associate degrees at one of Oregon’s 17 community colleges.

    • Spring 2013: First group of applicants and first cohort selected
    • Spring 2014: Second group of applicants and second cohort selected

    Arts Initiatives

    OCF’s new $12.5-million investment in Oregon arts and culture includes three strategies to create vibrant and accessible arts communities of all sizes throughout our state.

    Studio to School

    To increase access to arts education for Oregon schoolchildren, OCF will award $5 million over five years through the Studio to School initiative to provide multiyear support for 15 partnerships between community arts organizations and schools. Learn more.

    Creative Heights

    To support the creation and dissemination of innovative new works, OCF will award $4 million over five years to arts and culture organizations through the Creative Heights initiative. Learn more.

    Small Arts & Culture Grants

    To support Oregon's smallest arts and culture organizations, OCF will award $1.5 million over five years to eligible organizations in every region of our state. Learn more.

  • Community Grant Expansion

    Community Grants Expansion

    To ensure responsiveness to communities statewide, OCF will award up to $9 million over five years for arts and education within our existing Community Grant Program
