New OCF research findings on Oregon's opportunity gap challenge our notion of the American Dream. The findings show why children born into lower-income families are less likely to escape the cycle of poverty. The full report, Toward a Thriving Future: Closing the Opportunity Gap for Oregon’s Kids, features information on ways we can work with communities around the state to create equity in opportunity.
OCF partnered with Oregon State University’s Rural Studies Program and Extension Service to conduct this study, which tracks longitudinal indicators of Oregon’s economy, people, communities, and environment. In addition to producing a statewide report, the TOP Indicators website allows interested parties to generate custom reports to compare counties or drill down to particular areas of interest.
